About Maruja

Maruja is a four-piece from Manchester fronted by singer and guitarist Harry Wilkinson, with Joe Carroll on saxophone. Wilkinson moves between speaking and shouting over tense, repetitive grooves, while Carroll's saxophone switches between melodic lines and harsh, overblown noise.

The band built its following on long, loud live sets and on EPs including Knocknarea, before releasing a debut album, Pain to Power, in 2025. Their lyrics deal frequently with political anger and personal struggle, and songs tend to start quietly and swell over several minutes into dense, cathartic peaks.
