Oasis

Manchester band built on Noel Gallagher's terrace-sized anthems and Liam Gallagher's sneering vocal, with 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger' as mass singalongs.

About Oasis

Oasis formed in Manchester in 1991 around singer Liam Gallagher, and his older brother Noel joined soon after as guitarist and principal songwriter. Alan McGee signed them to Creation Records, and their debut album Definitely Maybe arrived in 1994, followed a year later by (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, the record that made them the defining band of Britpop.

The sound is loud, direct guitar rock with a clear debt to the Beatles and the Stones, built on big choruses and Liam's nasal, drawn-out delivery. The brothers' feuding was as public as the music, and the band split in 2009 after a backstage argument in Paris. The Gallaghers announced a reunion in 2024 and returned to stadiums in 2025.
