About Jackson Browne
Jackson Browne was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1948 and grew up in Southern California. He was writing songs for others before he released any of his own: Nico recorded 'These Days' while he was still a teenager, and he co-wrote 'Take It Easy' with Glenn Frey of the Eagles. He signed to David Geffen's Asylum label and released his debut album in 1972.
Late for the Sky and The Pretender established his reflective, piano- and guitar-led style. Running on Empty was recorded on tour, partly onstage and partly in hotel rooms and on the bus, and its songs are about life on the road. In 1979 he co-founded Musicians United for Safe Energy, which staged the No Nukes concerts, and political subjects have run through his writing since.
