About Hüsker Dü

Hüsker Dü formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1979 and took their name from a board game whose title means "Do you remember?" in Danish and Norwegian. They started out as one of the fastest bands in American hardcore, then spent a string of releases on SST Records, including New Day Rising and Flip Your Wig, pushing melody further forward without dropping the noise.

Bob Mould and Grant Hart split the songwriting and lead vocals, and the tension between the two shaped both the records and the band's end. After signing to Warner Bros. they released Candy Apple Grey and the double album Warehouse: Songs and Stories before breaking up in 1987. Mould went on to a solo career and the band Sugar; Hart died in 2017.
