About Blur
Blur grew out of Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon's schooldays in Colchester and formed in London around 1988. After the baggy-influenced Leisure, they turned to English music-hall and Kinks-style songwriting on Modern Life Is Rubbish, Parklife and The Great Escape. In 1995 'Country House' beat Oasis's 'Roll With It' to number one in a head-to-head singles release.
The self-titled 1997 album and 13 moved toward lo-fi American indie and gospel-tinged balladry on 'Tender'. Coxon was largely absent from Think Tank in 2003. The band reunited in 2009 and has since released The Magic Whip and The Ballad of Darren. Albarn also leads Gorillaz.
