About G. Love & Special Sauce
G. Love & Special Sauce is fronted by Garrett Dutton, who performs as G. Love, backed originally by upright bassist Jimi "Jazz" Prescott and drummer Jeffrey Clemens. Their self-titled debut arrived in 1994 and set the template: acoustic slide guitar and harmonica over relaxed breakbeat rhythms, with Dutton half-rapping in a conversational drawl.
Dutton later struck up a long association with Jack Johnson, who appeared on 'Rodeo Clowns', and the band went on to release records through Johnson's Brushfire label.
