Earshot
American post-grunge band formed in 1999 around Wil Martin's voice — heavy, hook-first alt-rock from the era when radio rock still filled arenas.
Earshot came together in Los Angeles in 1999, with singer Wil Martin joined by guitarist Scott Kohler, bassist Guy Couturier and drummer Todd Wyatt, with bassist Johnny Sprague and guitarist Mike Callahan arriving soon after. Martin has named Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Metallica, Thin Lizzy, U2, Soundgarden and Tool as the reference points behind the band's sound.
The band signed to Warner Bros. Records in 2001 and spent early 2002 on the SnoCore Rock Tour alongside Alien Ant Farm, Adema and Glassjaw. Their debut album, Letting Go, followed that May, reaching number 82 on the Billboard 200 and eventually selling more than 100,000 copies in the United States.
Letting Go's lead single, "Get Away," climbed to number 4 on the rock chart and stayed in the Top 100 for over 60 weeks, helped by months of touring with Staind, Kid Rock and Stone Temple Pilots. Songs from the album turned up in the film Queen of the Damned and in video games including Legends of Wrestling II and Project Gotham Racing 2.
A second album, Two, arrived in 2004 and produced the hit "Wait," which was used in Madden NFL 2005 and MX vs. ATV Unleashed. That year the band also opened for Megadeth.
Earshot's output since has been sparser: The Silver Lining in 2008, the EP Aftermath in 2015, and Humaning in 2025, released across repeated lineup changes with Martin the one constant throughout.
