The former Flyleaf vocalist under her own name, carrying that same raw-throated conviction into solo hard rock.

Lacey Sturm, born Lacey Nicole Mosley in 1981, helped form the band that became Flyleaf in Texas around 2000, playing with drummer James Culpepper and guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann before bassist Pat Seals joined in 2002; the group took the name Flyleaf in 2004.

Her singing there moved between clean melodic lines and abrasive screams, with lyrics drawing on her Christian faith and her own history of depression, later expanded in the book The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living. She left the band in 2012, shortly before the release of New Horizons, after the death of the band's sound engineer led her to refocus on family; she rejoined in 2022, with the group now billed as Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm.

Her solo material stays in hard rock territory, built around the same voice and much the same subject matter of struggle, belief and survival, delivered with more grain than polish. She formed her solo band in 2014 with drummer Tom Gascon, bassist Ben Hull and her husband, guitarist Josh Sturm, premiering that October in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Her 2016 debut, Life Screams, made her the first solo female artist to top the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart, also reaching the Alternative and Top Rock charts. She has since toured with acts including Palisades, Stitched Up Heart, Red and Righteous Vendetta, and released the 2020 single "The Decree," co-written with Skillet's Korey Cooper.

She has also guested with other rock and metal acts, contributing backing vocals to Third Day's "Born Again," which earned her a Grammy nomination, along with features with Apocalyptica, Orianthi, We as Human, Breaking Benjamin and Love and Death.
