David Moore
Pianist and composer who leads the ensemble Bing & Ruth, writing slow, sustained piano music; recent records pair him with guitarist Steve Gunn.
About David Moore
David Moore is an American pianist and composer, and the founder of Bing & Ruth, which began as a larger chamber group and gradually narrowed to a small core. The band's albums include Tomorrow Was the Golden Age on RVNG Intl. and No Home of the Mind and Species on 4AD.
Moore's writing rests on repeated piano figures held in place long enough for overtones and tape-delay smear to become the subject of the music. Species moved the focus to a Farfisa organ, stretching that same approach over sustained, reedy chords.
