Doris Dana

Doris Dana is the project of Mónica Mesa, a Colombian-born artist raised in Miami and now based in North Carolina. The name comes from Doris Dana, editor and confidante of the Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral, and the project centres on hidden bonds and the women at the edges of history. Early releases include improvisaciones (2021), cinematic memories (Impresión, 2022), an imagined film score in dark electronics, and sentimental atmospheres (Noir Age, 2022).

In 2025 she released nostalgia on Enmossed, an hour of slowed boleros and worn-tape texture, and wild at heart on Oscilla Sound, with spoken word from poet Marta Núñez Pouzols and artist Susannah Simpson. Mesa is also one half of bad lsd trips with Domingo Castillo Flores, and hosts the bimonthly experimental show No era sólida on Radio TNP.
