Black Pantera
Brazilian hardcore-metal trio from Minas Gerais — riffs and anti-racist fury in equal measure.
Black Pantera formed in Uberaba, in the interior of Minas Gerais, around brothers Charles Gama and Chaene da Gama, with Rodrigo Augusto on drums. The band works in a space between hardcore punk, crossover thrash and heavy rock, built on short songs, blunt riffs and shouted vocals shared between the two brothers, with occasional grooves and percussive touches that point back to Brazilian music.
Their lyrics deal directly with racism, police violence and everyday life for Black Brazilians, and the band's name and imagery make that political frame explicit. Singing in Portuguese, Black Pantera became one of the more widely discussed Brazilian heavy bands of the 2010s and 2020s, known for the intensity and brevity of their live sets.
