Like Moths To Flames formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 2010, when vocalist Chris Roetter, who had previously fronted Agraceful and sung for Emarosa, joined forces with four members of the Ohio metalcore band TerraFirma. The group signed to Rise Records within the year and released its debut EP, Sweet Talker, before 2010 was out.
The band works in a metalcore and post-hardcore vein, pairing harsh vocals and breakdown-driven riffing with melodic clean choruses, and their records have leaned progressively heavier and darker over time while keeping that contrast intact.
Their discography now runs to six studio albums and five EPs. The debut full-length, When We Don't Exist, arrived in 2011; the second, An Eye for an Eye, was recorded with producer Will Putney and reached number 63 on the Billboard 200 in 2013.
Roetter is the only member remaining from the original lineup; the current group also includes guitarists Zach Pishney and Cody Cavanaugh and drummer Roman Garcia. They have spent much of their existence as a touring band, and are a familiar name within the American metalcore scene that grew up around labels and package tours in the early 2010s.
