Caroline Rose

Caroline Rose is an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose 2014 debut, I Will Not Be Afraid, leaned on rockabilly rhythms and folk storytelling. The switch came with Loner in 2018, released on New West Records: brittle synths, surf guitar and deadpan lyrics about money, sexism and early adulthood, on songs such as "Soul No. 5" and "Jeannie Becomes a Mom". Rose dressed the part in a bright red tracksuit, and the comic, slightly unhinged persona became central to the live show.

Superstar followed in 2020, a loose concept record about an ambitious nobody chasing fame, built on glossier dance-pop production. The Art of Forgetting, from 2023, pulled back from the character work into songs about grief and memory, with sparser arrangements and fragments of voicemail woven between tracks.
