Bass music with metal's aggression baked in — heavy, dark, and increasingly vocal-led, Boise drops with blast-furnace weight.

Kai Wachi is a producer from Boise, Idaho, working at the heavy end of American bass music. His tracks pair the half-time rhythms and low-frequency design of dubstep with textures borrowed from metal and hardcore — distorted guitar tones, blast-beat fills and screamed or sung vocal features layered over the drops. The result sits closer to the dark, aggressive side of the genre than to its melodic strain, and his releases have leaned increasingly on full vocal performances rather than instrumental builds alone.
