Israeli producer who coined 'gorestep' — deliberately obnoxious, and very good at it, with filthy drops engineered to offend and delight simultaneously.

Borgore was born Yosef Asaf Borger on October 20, 1987, in Holon, Israel, and raised in Tel Aviv. Before turning to electronic production he played drums in the Israeli deathcore band Shabira, a metal background that later fed into his own sound.

His self-described "gorestep" style pairs triplet drum patterns and heavy-metal aggression with production drawing on horror-movie sound effects, farm-animal noises and deliberately crude, sexual content, aimed at getting a strong reaction rather than polite applause.

Beyond his own Buygore label he has released music through Dim Mak, Spinnin' Records, Sumerian and Shift Recordings, spreading his catalogue across several corners of dance music. His most widely heard single, 'Decisions', came out in 2012 with backing vocals from Miley Cyrus.

Borger moved to Los Angeles in 2012 and spent a decade based there before returning to Israel in November 2023, shortly after the birth of his daughter, Ellie. He now lives in Hungary with his family, still releasing music under the Buygore name.
