The Cranberries

Limerick band built around Dolores O'Riordan's yodel-flecked voice, swinging between the shimmering jangle of 'Linger' and the distorted protest of 'Zombie'.

About The Cranberries

The Cranberries started in Limerick as a band formed by brothers Noel and Mike Hogan with drummer Fergal Lawler. Dolores O'Riordan joined as singer in 1990 and became the band's main lyricist. Their debut, 'Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?', paired chiming guitars with her keening vocal on songs such as 'Dreams', and 'No Need to Argue' followed in 1994.

'Zombie' was written in response to the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington that killed two children, and its heavier guitar sound shaped their later records. O'Riordan died in January 2018. The remaining members completed a final album, 'In the End', from her demo vocals and released it in 2019, then retired the band.
