Soul Glo are a hardcore band from Philadelphia, fronted by vocalist Pierce Jordan. Their music combines the speed and abrasion of screamo and powerviolence with rap cadences, noise and abrupt structural turns, and Jordan's lyrics deal directly with race, class, mental health and the politics of the punk scene itself.
Formed in 2014, the band started as a quartet with Jamie Sokol and Ethan Brennan alongside Jordan and Ruben Polo. The lineup shifted over time, with GG Guerra moving onto guitar and TJ Stevenson joining on drums. In 2018, Guerra was arrested while the band travelled to a show in Missouri, and the group raised fifteen thousand dollars to bail him out mid-tour.
The band built a following through self-released records and DIY touring before signing to Epitaph in 2021, releasing two volumes of the DisNigga EP series. Diaspora Problems followed in March 2022, the same year Ruben Polo left the band after being accused of sexual assault by deception.
That album drew wide critical attention, and the band went on to support Show Me the Body and, alongside Turnstile, My Chemical Romance, helping place the group among the more discussed hardcore acts of recent years.
