Sir Chloe
Sultry, minimalist indie rock — 'Michelle' and a knack for menace, restraint used like a weapon.
Sir Chloe is the project of songwriter and guitarist Dana Foote, who formed the band in 2017 during her senior year at Bennington College in Vermont, assembling classmates to play a concert of original songs in place of a written thesis.
Early recordings circulated online, and "Michelle" became the song most listeners encounter first, later reaching a wider audience after going viral on TikTok. The band's debut EP, Party Favors, appeared in 2020, followed by a cover of the Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" in 2021.
The music sits between bedroom pop and garage rock: clean, deliberately spare arrangements, guitar lines that lean on repetition rather than volume, and vocals delivered low and close to the microphone. Foote has cited Balkan music and Cage the Elephant as influences.
The debut album, I Am the Dog, released in 2023 with contributions from John Congleton and Sarah Tudzin of Illuminati Hotties, led to tours supporting Beck and Phoenix. A run of standalone singles followed in 2024, including one co-written with Claud, alongside the band's own Savory Tour.
In 2025 Sir Chloe opened shows on Halsey's tour and released a third album, Swallow the Knife, preceded by the singles "Forgiving" and a second track announced that June.
