River Tiber
Toronto multi-instrumentalist making hazy, psychedelic R&B, with close ties to the city's crossover jazz and hip-hop production circles.
River Tiber is the recording name of Tommy Paxton-Beesley, a Toronto musician who writes, plays and produces most of his material himself. His songs pair falsetto vocals with layered guitars, keys and drum programming, sitting somewhere between psychedelic soul and beat-driven R&B.
He came up alongside Toronto's jazz-rooted instrumental scene and has worked with BADBADNOTGOOD, whose loose, live-band approach to hip-hop overlaps with his own. On stage he tends to reproduce the records with a band rather than over backing tracks.
