Juana Molina

Juana Molina was born in Buenos Aires in 1962, the daughter of tango singer Horacio Molina and actress Chunchuna Villafañe. In the early 1990s she was one of Argentina's best-known television comedians through her sketch show Juana y sus hermanas, which she left to make music.

Her debut, Rara, came out in 1996, produced by Gustavo Santaolalla, and was poorly received at home. Over the following albums, among them Segundo, Tres Cosas, Son, Wed 21 and Halo, she built her songs alone from layered loops of voice, acoustic guitar and synthesizer, with repetitive patterns that shift gradually. Her later records have been released internationally by the Belgian label Crammed Discs.
