About I Prevail
I Prevail formed in Southfield, Michigan, in 2013. Their first wide attention came from a 2014 metalcore cover of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space", which spread online and opened the door to a record deal. For most of the band's run the vocals were split between Brian Burkheiser's melodic singing and Eric Vanlerberghe's screams, and many songs are built on that handoff. Burkheiser and the band parted ways in 2025.
Their debut album Lifelines came out in 2016. Trauma followed in 2019 and pushed further toward electronic textures and alternative metal. True Power, released in 2022, returned to heavier material, and Violent Nature arrived in 2025.
