Liverpool drill delivered in a thick Scouse accent — melodic, unhurried, and part of the wave that stopped UK rap sounding exclusively like London.

EsDeeKid performs with his face covered by a balaclava and has kept his real name, age and appearance private since he began attracting attention. He is from Liverpool and, by most accounts, still lives in the council house he grew up in, maintaining the anonymous, all-black persona in interviews as much as on record.

His sound leans on cloud rap as much as drill, with sparse, slow-moving beats and a half-sung, laid-back delivery that sits apart from the clipped aggression of earlier London drill. Critics have singled out his thick Scouse accent as central to his identity, with the Guardian at one point praising both the accent and his lyrics.

His first recorded appearance was a feature on DualSpines' 'Altered' in 2023. He began releasing his own music the following year, starting with a 'Black Beatles' remix and moving through singles including 'Slurricane', 'Ferragamo' and 'Bally', the last a collaboration with Rico Ace that Pitchfork flagged as one of 2024's standout tracks.

His debut mixtape, Rebel, arrived in June 2025 through Lizzy Records, carrying the singles 'LV Sandals', '5am' and 'Phantom', the last with Rico Ace and now past 300 million streams. Rebel reached number 16 on the UK Albums Chart, charted across several European countries and eventually climbed to number 23 on the US Billboard 200, months after its release, and he toured Europe behind it.

Early virality also produced a wave of memes comparing him to actor Timothée Chalamet on account of a physical resemblance, a joke the two eventually turned into a remix of EsDeeKid's track '4 Raws'.
