About Donots
Donots formed in 1993 in Ibbenbüren, a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia. Singer Ingo Knollmann and guitarist Guido Knollmann have led the band throughout. For most of their career they sang in English and played a fast, melodic punk rock close to the American pop-punk of the time. Their cover of Twisted Sister's 'We're Not Gonna Take It' gave them a wider audience in Germany.
The album 'Karacho' (2015) was their first sung in German. It sharpened the lyrics toward direct political and personal statements, and later records such as 'Lauter als Bomben' (2018) stayed with German. The band are a long-standing live act in German-speaking punk, and their shows lean on crowd singalongs.
