Amaia

Amaia is the stage name of Amaia Romero, a singer, songwriter and pianist from Pamplona who trained in classical piano before television made her a household name in Spain. In 2018 she represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest, singing the duet "Tu canción" with fellow contestant Alfred García.

Her debut album, Pero no pasa nada, arrived in 2019 and moved away from the ballad style expected of talent-show winners toward a gentler, lo-fi indie pop shaped by Spanish indie of the 1990s and 2000s. Songs such as "El relámpago" set her soft, conversational voice against piano and modest band arrangements, and her lyrics tend toward small, specific observations about doubt and everyday feeling. Later records kept that intimacy while widening the production.
