About Rawayana
Rawayana formed in Caracas in 2007, with Alberto "Beto" Montenegro as frontman. The band built a following across Venezuela before its members, like many of their listeners, scattered abroad, and the songs often reflect that diaspora experience with a wry, slangy Venezuelan voice.
Their sound pulls from reggae, funk, salsa and tropical pop, played with a relaxed, jam-friendly looseness. The 2024 album ¿Dónde es el After? won the Grammy for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album.
