Pooh Shiesty was born Lontrell Denell Williams Jr. on November 8, 1999, in South Memphis, and spent part of his teenage years in Pflugerville, Texas. His stage name came from his late brother, who took his childhood nickname 'Mr. Pooh' and paired it with the slang term 'shiesty.'

He began focusing on music at eighteen, releasing his debut single 'Hell Night' with Big30 in 2019 and a string of singles through 2020. A feature on Gucci Mane's 'Still Remember' caught the Atlanta rapper's attention, leading to a reported ten-million-dollar deal with his 1017 Records, distributed through Atlantic.

His 2020 mixtape Shiesty Season introduced him to a wider audience, with 'Back in Blood,' featuring Lil Durk, peaking at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming his best-known song. He also guested on the remix of SpotemGottem's 'Beat Box,' which reached number 12.

His delivery is deliberately flat and conversational, riding sparse, bass-heavy production without raising his voice, and his hooks tend to be short repeated phrases rather than sung melodies.

In June 2021 he was sentenced to five years in prison on firearms conspiracy charges and was released in late 2025. His comeback single 'FDO' peaked at number 12 on the Hot 100. He was later arrested again in 2026 on federal conspiracy charges tied to a break-in at Gucci Mane's residence; his debut album, All Eyes on Shiest, reached number seven on the Billboard 200 while he was incarcerated.
