Brazilian DJ and singer working the seam between funk carioca and chart pop — club-built hooks with radio ambitions.

Pedro Sampaio, born Pedro do Espirito Santo Sampaio on 21 December 1997, is a Brazilian DJ, producer and singer signed to Warner Music Brasil. He began experimenting with percussion at 13, drumming on a bucket before persuading his father to buy him a tanta, repinique, timbal and tambourine, and was discovered as a DJ a year later at a party thrown by a friend of his father's.

By 17 he had joined the artist roster of veteran funk producer Dennis DJ. He started his solo career properly in 2017, posting remixes of other artists' songs on YouTube, which built an online following large enough to get him booked for shows performing his own productions. Warner Music Brasil signed him at the end of 2018.

His tracks pair the sharp, repetitive percussion patterns of Rio funk with pop song structures and sung hooks rather than purely rapped vocals, an approach that carried him out of the funk carioca scene and into the mainstream. His 2019 single 'Sentadao,' featuring Felipe Original, reached number two on Spotify's Brazil chart and entered the global top 200.

He is also known for singles such as 'Galopa' and 'Dancarina,' the latter a widely shared collaboration that carried the funk sound well beyond Brazil, as well as 'ESCADA DO PREDIO' with Marina Sena and 'Chama Ela' with Lexa. Collaboration is central to how he works, and much of his catalogue is built around guest vocalists and MCs from both the funk scene and the Brazilian pop charts.
