Nasty
Belgian crew dealing in beatdown hardcore at its most punishing — breakdowns built for pile-ons, delivered with metallic weight and no wasted motion.
Nasty formed in November 2004 in Kelmis, Belgium, by former members of the band Van Damme, emerging from the West Flanders hardcore scene known as H8000. Backlash against their aggression pushed them to relocate to nearby Eupen, and the band has spent two decades since as one of the more visible names in European beatdown hardcore.
The band's music sits at the point where hardcore meets metal: slow, heavily palm-muted riffing, abrupt tempo drops and shouted vocals, with songs structured around the breakdown rather than the verse or chorus. Records and shows alike lean on repetition and weight instead of speed.
Their discography has moved through a run of independent labels. Fuck This Recordings released the 2006 debut Declaring War, Goodlife Recordings followed with Aggression and Give a Shit, and Beatdown Hardwear carried Love, Shokka and Realigion through the 2010s before Century Media Records released Menace and Heartbreak Criminals.
Nasty has toured extensively across Europe, sharing bills with bands including Terror, Madball and Suicidal Tendencies and pushing into Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia and beyond. The group remains grouped with the wider continental hardcore and metalcore circuit that overlaps with the heavier end of the metal touring world.
