Multi-instrumentalist and film composer working in dark, texture-heavy electronic rock — a songwriter with an unavoidable surname and his own set of ideas.

Dhani Harrison is an English musician, born in 1978, the son of George Harrison. He first became widely known for helping complete his father's final album, Brainwashed, after George's death, and later led the band thenewno2, whose work leaned on loops, processed guitars and electronics rather than straightforward rock arrangement.

thenewno2 formed in 2006 and built a following on the festival circuit, playing a Coachella set that Spin magazine later called one of the strongest debut performances of that year's event, and appearing at Lollapalooza three times, once joining founder Perry Farrell for a cover of the Velvet Underground's "Sweet Jane." Harrison has also recorded as part of Fistful of Mercy alongside Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur.

Alongside his band work, Harrison has built a substantial career scoring film and television, and that background feeds back into his solo material: the 2017 album IN///PARALLEL favours layered synthesisers, heavy low end and vocals treated as one more element in the mix. He plays a range of instruments and tends to handle much of the production himself.

His scoring work began in 2013 with the Warner Bros. film Beautiful Creatures, made with writing partner Paul Hicks, and the two have since scored television series including Good Girls Revolt and Outsiders, plus the documentary Matangi/Maya/M.I.A., which brought them an International Documentary Association Award nomination.

Harrison has also worked outside his own projects: he has toured with Eric Clapton, appeared on the Wu-Tang Clan track "The Heart Gently Weeps," and joined Pearl Jam onstage several times. In 2004 he played "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Prince, marking his father's posthumous induction.
