Carol Hodge is an English singer, songwriter and pianist whose solo work pairs direct, often darkly funny lyrics with keyboard-led arrangements. She came up through the UK punk world rather than the singer-songwriter circuit, and has performed as a keyboard player and backing vocalist with Steve Ignorant of Crass, among other collaborations. Her own songs tend toward the confessional, dealing with grief, mental health and self-doubt in plain language, and she has built much of her audience through independent releases and steady live work.
