About Arch Enemy
Arch Enemy was formed in Halmstad in 1996 by guitarist Michael Amott, previously of Carcass, with his brother Christopher Amott also on guitar. The early albums featured vocalist Johan Liiva. Angela Gossow took over in 2000, and records such as Wages of Sin and Doomsday Machine made the band one of the most widely toured acts in melodic death metal. Alissa White-Gluz succeeded Gossow in 2014.
The songs pair growled vocals with guitar leads that sit closer to classic heavy metal than to most death metal, and Amott's solos are a central part of the sound. "Nemesis" and "We Will Rise" are the songs most often used to close the band's sets.
