One of UK drum & bass's most in-demand vocalists, now fronting sets of her own.

A Little Sound is the project of British singer Hayley Smith, raised in Taunton before moving to Bristol to study at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute. She started writing songs at ten and began uploading acoustic and country covers to a YouTube channel called A Little Sound at eleven, later adding drum and bass elements to the videos after the original versions weren't attracting views.

Her voice is soulful and melodic, often layered into rolling breakbeats and warm basslines. She became one of the more frequently featured vocalists in UK drum & bass through guest spots with producers including Kanine, Gray, Technimatic, DJ Gaw, Annix, Levela, Document One, Kleu and Friction. Her feature on Technimatic's "Lakota" has been streamed more than five million times.

She has increasingly moved from guest features into releases and live sets under her own name. Her debut solo single, "Breathe", arrived in November 2022 alongside an EP under her own name. That December she won Best Vocalist at the Drum&BassArena Awards, and in 2024 she added Best Vocalist and Best Female DJ at the Drum & Bass Awards.

In August 2024 she released "Situation" with Sugababes, a track that interpolates the group's earlier song "Overload". The song grew out of a writing session with Billen Ted and Katy Tiz, and Sugababes added harmonies during a later session.
