Detroit shape-shifter who yelps, croons and raps within the same bar — a painter's approach to rap where the wrong-sounding choice is the point.
ZelooperZ is the stage name of Walter Moszel Williams, born June 18, 1993, a rapper from Detroit and longtime member of Danny Brown's Bruiser Brigade, signed to the group's Bruiser Brigade Records. He is also a visual artist, and the connection between the two practices is often noted: his vocal approach is closer to mark-making than to conventional flow.
On record he swings between a strangled yelp, a warped croon and a straight-ahead rap, sometimes within a single line, over off-kilter, bass-heavy production and unconventional song structures.
His release schedule has been steady rather than sparse: two LPs in 2019, Wild Card and Dyn-o-Mite, three more in 2020 with Gremlin, Moszel Offline and Valley of Life, then Van Gogh's Left Ear in 2021 and Dali Aint Dead in 2025, the latter featuring Zack Fox and Paris Texas.
Williams paints under his own name, citing Francis Bacon and Hajime Sorayama as influences, and has painted several of his own album covers, including a self-portrait for Van Gogh's Left Ear. He has sold work both as Zelooperz and under the moniker Moszel Offline.
