Tiltwheel
San Diego punk lifers going since the early nineties — gravel-throated, self-deprecating songs about drinking and disappointment, played fast and loose.
Tiltwheel have been playing San Diego punk rock since 1991, operating almost entirely within the independent underground — small labels, split releases, seven-inches and long stretches between records. The band's sound is rough-edged melodic punk: hoarse, shouted vocals, straightforward chord progressions played at speed, and lyrics that tend toward self-mockery and hard-luck humour rather than politics.
They are better known within the DIY punk community than outside it, and are frequently cited as an influence by later gruff-voiced melodic punk bands.
