Sophia Stel

Sophia Stel is an artist and producer born in Victoria, B.C., and shaped by her formative years in Vancouver. She wrote her first melodies a cappella and found beatmaking in high school. In Vancouver she honed her production in a basement studio at Paradise, a since-shuttered DIY club where she worked, setting it up and tearing it down after each weekend club night.

That was when she embraced her lower register, the full-bodied alto that anchors her post-genre songs. Her 2024 debut EP, Object Permanence, found her a cult following, and she directs her own spur-of-the-moment digicam visuals for tracks like 'I'll Take It' and 'You Could Hate Me'.

Her second EP, How to Win At Solitaire, was written at the end of a three-year relationship and brought her back to electric guitar, an instrument she has loved since childhood. It runs from the opener 'Everyone Falls Asleep In Their Own Time' through 'Taste' and 'All My Friends Are Models' to the closing 'Solitaire'.

She has co-signs from Troye Sivan and A.G. Cook, made her runway debut at Ann Demeulemeester's PFW SS26 show, modelled for Palace Skateboards and was named in the DAZED 100. In 2026 she toured internationally as a headliner, opened for Lorde at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, covered The Face Magazine and signed with A24 Music.
