A designer's brain applied to pop — spoken-sung, sharply written art-pop about consumption and self-image, delivered with unnerving calm.

Kilo Kish, born Lakisha Kimberly Robinson in Orlando, Florida, graduated from Winter Park High School before winning a scholarship to Pratt Institute in New York at eighteen. She later studied textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, graduating in 2012, and her background in design has carried through into the visual side of her music.

She began recording through her roommates' home studio project, Kool Kats Klub, which led to a meeting with Matt Martians of The Internet and early collaborations including Jet Age of Tomorrow's 'Want You Still.' Her 2012 debut EP, Homeschool, featured guests from that circle and was named one of the year's best releases by Complex.

The mixtape K+ (2013) brought in Childish Gambino, Earl Sweatshirt, SBTRKT and A$AP Ferg, alongside a companion art zine, K+ THE BOOK. A second EP, Across, followed in 2014 through the fashion label Maison Kitsune, extended by a remix release the next year.

Her work moves between art pop, electronic music and spoken word, delivered in a cool, half-spoken tone over production that can turn abrasive or minimal. Her debut album, Reflections in Real Time (2016), and later Redux, examine identity, consumerism and anxiety; the song 'Taking Responsibility' was later used in HBO's Euphoria.

In 2017 she appeared on Gorillaz's Humanz and across Vince Staples' Big Fish Theory. The single 'Elegance' and EP mothe followed in 2018, with Pitchfork naming 'Elegance' its Best New Track, before the Redux singles arrived from late 2019.
