Ken Carson, born Kenyatta Lee Bettis Frazier Jr., grew up in Atlanta and started out with 808 Mafia after meeting producer TM88 in 2015, posting music to SoundCloud from 2017 alongside frequent collaborator and fellow Atlanta rapper Destroy Lonely. Playboi Carti discovered him through those releases and signed him to Opium in 2019, making Carson the label's first artist, ahead of Destroy Lonely and Homixide Gang.

He is one of the central figures in the style often called rage, which pairs distorted, synth-heavy production with short, repetitive vocal hooks delivered at high energy, favoring volume and repetition over conventional song structure.

His early EPs Boy Barbie and Teen X arrived in 2020, followed by his debut album, Project X, in 2021. The albums X (2022) and A Great Chaos (2023) followed, the latter's deluxe edition producing "Overseas," his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. His fourth album, More Chaos, released in 2025, became his first to debut at number one on the Billboard 200.

He has worked across the Atlanta rap scene, guesting on Yeat's "Gëek high," recording "Hell Yeah" with SoFaygo, and producing "x2" for Lil Uzi Vert's Pink Tape, while staying closely tied to Opium labelmates Destroy Lonely and Homixide Gang. His live shows are known for their volume and for mosh-heavy crowds.
