Hot Rod Circuit began in Auburn, Alabama, in the late 1990s before relocating to Connecticut, and became one of the more durable names in the emo and melodic punk scene of the early 2000s. Fronted by singer and guitarist Andy Jackson, the band worked a hoarse, guitar-driven strain of emo that owed as much to straightforward rock songwriting as to hardcore, and released records through Triple Crown and Vagrant during the label's most visible period. The group went quiet in the late 2000s and has since returned intermittently, playing material drawn largely from that earlier run.
