Gracie Abrams is a Los Angeles singer-songwriter who began releasing music in the late 2010s, first drawing attention through spare, self-recorded songs posted online. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Pacific Palisades, she is the daughter of filmmaker J. J. Abrams and producer Katie McGrath. She started writing songs at eight, attended Barnard College to study international relations, and left after a year to pursue music full-time.

Her writing tends toward the confessional and conversational, built around close-mic'd vocals, plain-spoken detail and the small aftermaths of relationships rather than choruses designed to carry. Her early EPs kept arrangements to guitar or piano and voice, and later records widened the palette with drums, layered vocals and fuller production while keeping the same soft, near-spoken delivery.

She signed to Interscope Records in 2019 and released her debut EP, Minor, in 2020, followed by This Is What It Feels Like in 2021, the latter made partly with producer Aaron Dessner. Her debut album, Good Riddance, arrived in 2023 and brought a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. A second album, The Secret of Us, followed in 2024, debuting at number two on the Billboard 200 behind singles including Risk, Close to You and That's So True.

Abrams opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the Sour Tour in 2022 and for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour across 2023 and 2024, later collaborating with Swift on The Secret of Us track Us, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. A 2023 feature on Noah Kahan's Everywhere, Everything gave her a first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, and she won the American Music Award for New Artist of the Year in 2025.
