DJ Ramon Sucesso

DJ Ramon Sucesso comes out of Rio de Janeiro's funk carioca scene. He works in the quick-cut medley style that grew up around baile parties and online mixtapes, where a single track can run through dozens of vocal hooks and beat changes in a few minutes. Funk's tamborzão drums sit beside heavily chopped samples, all of it pushed to an abrasive, overdriven sound.

His album 'Sexta dos Crias' brought that approach to listeners well outside Brazil. Its tracks pile fragment on fragment, and it was widely picked up by writers covering experimental club music.
