About Nickelback

Nickelback formed in Hanna, Alberta, in 1995, built around singer and guitarist Chad Kroeger, his brother Mike Kroeger on bass, and guitarist Ryan Peake. Daniel Adair took over the drum stool in 2005. Their third album, Silver Side Up (2001), carried 'How You Remind Me' to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100, and All the Right Reasons (2005) added 'Photograph', 'Rockstar' and 'Far Away' to a run of radio hits.

The sound is heavy, downtuned post-grunge riffs paired with Kroeger's gravelly voice, alternating with big, slow ballads. The band also became a long-running internet punchline, a reputation they addressed head-on in the 2023 documentary Hate to Love: Nickelback.
