Christopher Comstock, born May 19, 1992, began posting mashups and remixes on SoundCloud in 2010 under the name Dotcom before moving into trap production. His remix of Chief Keef's "Hate Bein' Sober" passed four million plays by 2014, leading to a deal with Borgore's Buygore Records, and he became known for a heavier hybrid he called festival trap, heard on tracks like "Michael Myers" and "Take a Picture" with Kayzo.

He debuted as Marshmello with the song "Wavez" in early 2015 and released his first album, Joytime, in 2016, led by the single "Keep It Mello". Comstock's identity behind the marshmallow helmet stayed unconfirmed to the public until Forbes named him in April 2017.

"Alone" reached number 28 on the Hot 100 and went quintuple platinum. Collaborations followed with Khalid on "Silence", certified platinum or multi-platinum in eight countries, and with Selena Gomez on "Wolves". Joytime II (2018) included "Tell Me" and "Check This Out" alongside the Anne-Marie collaboration "Friends", while "Happier" with Bastille climbed to number two, a peak later matched by "Come & Go" with Juice Wrld in 2020.

In 2019 Comstock earned an estimated $40 million, ranking second on Forbes' list of highest-paid DJs. His fourth album, Shockwave (2021), brought a Grammy nomination. Alongside the Marshmello project, he founded and sings for the pop-punk band Underbrook.
