Cincinnati glam maniacs — Freddie Mercury theatrics with backflips, piano-stomping rock 'n' roll played like a dare.

Frontman Eric Nally started the nu-metal band Train of Thought in 1997; after lineup changes it was renamed Foxy Shazam in 2004. The group self-released its debut album, The Flamingo Trigger, in 2005 and spent the following two years touring the country in support of it.

Foxy Shazam formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, and built a reputation on theatrical hard rock fronted by Eric Nally, whose wide-ranging voice and unpredictable stage behaviour anchor the band's live shows. The lineup's use of trumpet and prominent piano gives the music a vaudevillian streak alongside the guitars.

Signing to Ferret Music, the band released Introducing in 2008, led by the single 'A Dangerous Man'; Alternative Press named them one of its '100 Bands You Need to Know', and they toured with acts including Panic! at the Disco, The Strokes and Hole.

A deal with Sire Records followed, producing the band's self-titled 2010 album. Its single 'Unstoppable' featured in Super Bowl XLIV highlights and the video game NHL 11. Two more albums, The Church of Rock and Roll (2012) and Gonzo (2014), rounded out this run before the band disbanded later that year.

Their songs draw on glam rock and 1970s arena rock, with big choruses, dramatic vocal leaps and arrangements that lean toward spectacle. After disbanding in 2014, the band reunited for a sold-out show in Cincinnati in 2022, and has since released several albums independently through its own label, most recently 2025's Box of Magic.
