British producer-songwriter folding his own vocals into warm, understated house — dance music built around actual songs rather than drops.

Elderbrook is the recording name of Alexander Harry Kotz, born in London and raised in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, where he attended Berkhamsted School. He first played in an indie band as a teenager, then worked as a singer-songwriter doing acoustic material before university exposed him to electronic dance music and reshaped his direction.

His debut EP, Could, appeared in 2015 and included the track How Many Times, later remixed by the German duo Andhim into a version Mixmag named among its best songs of that year. A second EP, Travel Slow, followed soon after. Alongside his own releases he built a reputation as a remixer, reworking tracks including Pablo Nouvelle's Take Me to a Place.

In 2016 he collaborated with Gorgon City, supporting the duo at Brixton Academy and co-writing their single Smile, and was later named official remixer of Clean Bandit's Rockabye. That year he also played a sold-out headline show at the Omeara in London.

Elderbrook writes and produces his own material and sings on most of it, working in a restrained strain of house and electronic pop that leaves room for vocal melody rather than building toward a climax. He is widely known for Cola, a collaboration with CamelPhat that reached number one on both the US Dance Club Songs chart and the UK Indie Chart and was nominated for a Grammy, and for Something About You with Rudimental. He has released albums and EPs under his own name and continues to collaborate with other dance producers.
